Kristian Flindt Hawker. I work across a broad spectrum of mediums including clay, paint, ink and sound.

I predominantly use acrylic and oils for my paintings with lots of large brush strokes. For my pottery, I tend to mainly use stoneware but find myself mixing different clays together to create a more individual look and colour. As for the circle drawings they are mostly ink on watercolour cotton paper.

I’m an extremely visual person so I’m constantly looking for and taking inspiration from everything around me. I spend a lot of time in nature and use stories that come into my world as inspiration.

Anywhere really. I enjoy creating in large open spaces. I am currently in between studios so it’s a little difficult to create the larger pieces that I am wanting to. Hopefully that changes soon…

A few years back, I did a series of works that were important to me and they set me on a beautiful journey. Now I’m constantly looking for the next piece in the puzzle to continue this story. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.

Questions asked by our audience on Instagram
