Where to from Here is a unique, multi-arts installation collaboration between contemporary artist Nicole Voevodin-Cash and photographer Teddy Horton, the work intervenes in the ‘end of life’ journey of mattresses from the Sunshine Coast’s hospitality sector. 1.8 million mattresses are discarded each year in Australia, with around 33,000 tonnes ending up in landfill. This experimental installation combines photography and sculptural elements in its exploration of innovative creative circular economy solutions to big environmental challenges such as this.
As Australia begins to reinvest in local manufacturing and making, Where to from Here poses some big questions about the future of our industrial and manufacturing precincts, and the opportunity for working communities like Kunda Park to connect, create and renew.
The exhibition is presented in conjunction with Feral Arts and the Light Industry Studio in Kunda Park, one of the Sunshine Coast’s cool hidden places.
